WaterSeer is a green, low maintenance, and mobile Atmospheric Water Generator for any individual or community. It provides an endless supply of pure water from the air for drinking, agriculture and nature.
The WaterSeer Technology condenses water from the air by drawing water vapor into an underground collection chamber where the water vapor condenses as water.
Quest Water Solutions’ AQUAtap Drinking Water Station is a simple system that uses solar power to purify contaminated groundwater, brackish water, or sea water into safe drinking water. The systems are powered by photovoltaic panels.
Each Drinking Water Station is fully autonomous and can purify water at a rate of up to 20,000 litres per day without any existing infrastructure. They are also modular, so can be scaled for increased water purification. In addition, the system includes a distribution system.
This initiative by Piramal Group offers innovative solutions for creating affordable access to safe drinking water in underserved areas. It is a locally operated but centrally managed community level solutions system based on pay per use.
The Water ATMs which are just one element, are solar powered, cloud-connected, smart card based automatic water vending machines.
Other solutions offered by them include: 5 step Purification with machines equipped with remote monitoring and information layering technique, Monitoring systems for optimum processing of water quality and quantity, SEMS: which is an enterprise management system to generate and analyse real time impact data, Community Awareness to prevent water borne health diseases.
A revolution in making water accessible through the Water ATM however is the highlight of this project. One can partner with them to become a franchisee or adopt a school, a slum, a public place apart from adopting this project in different parts of the world.
The Hippo Water Roller was developed in 1991 by two South Africans in response to the daily struggle of rural women and children across Africa to access safe, drinkable water. Around 750 million people do not have easy access to clean water. Millions of women and children walk several hours each day to collect water with heavy 20 liters / 5 gallon buckets, balanced on their heads.
The 90 liter Hippo Water Roller is a strong and durable barrel-shaped container equipped with a steel handle with which it can be pushed or pulled. The design of the Hippo Water Roller allows water to be placed ‘inside the wheel’ so that the weight is borne on the ground and distributed over a wide rolling surface. With this, the effective weight of the 90 kg drum is just 10 kg when pushed or rolled on level ground, making it very user-friendly for women, children and the physically weak.
This technology is widely accepted in many countries by communities where water infrastructure is either unreliable or totally non-existent. By enabling more water to be transported concurrently, a daily burden becomes a task that can be completed a few times a week, enabling users to become more economically active. Its integration in rural communities has had a positive cultural impact as even men are proud to use it and help with water collection. Ultimately, this innovation makes more time available for education, household tasks and food production while enabling people to transport up to 5 x more water to their homes and food gardens.
Linda is a small, fast-growing urban area in Zambia with around 30,000 inhabitants. Many residents had to travel long distances to get water or had to pay high prices to private sellers. A Swiss non-profit organization, Wasser für Wasser (WfW), improved the local water supply as a part of its ‘Linda Project’.
With the financing of a borehole, 8 water kiosks and the extension of the cable network, WfW were able to provide direct access to clean drinking water for more than 8,000 people. Another 12,000 received improved access to water. The eight water kiosks have been in operation since February 2016.
