Air

Air

More than 5.5 million people worldwide die prematurely every year as a result of air pollution.

The main culprit is the emission of small particles from power plants, factories, vehicle exhausts and burning of coal and wood. Breathing these in can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, respiratory disorders and even cancer.

Industrial production and demand for electricity in developing nations deteriorates the quality of air. The challenge can be addressed by innovating ways for large-scale purification, repurposing the polluted air, enforcing responsibility of emissions on those creating them and conscientiously moving towards urbanization.
