I’m glad that you asked how we can fight climate change at a personal level, as individual effort can make the biggest difference. We can follow a few tips to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint:

    • Reducing energy consumption: switch off the lights, fan, and TV when leaving the room, and be aware of your surroundings to reduce wastage of water and electricity. Even keeping the AC a few degrees up can save energy.
    • Using public transport and carpooling: avoid using separate vehicles for the same daily route as colleagues or neighbors. If possible, use public transport and use that time to read or relax, or if carpooling, use that time to connect with others.
    • Plant-based diet: meat and dairy industries are among the biggest culprits of greenhouse gas emissions, so cutting down on or stopping consumption can contribute to the environment.
    • The 3 R’s: reduce the usage of unnecessary things, reuse the stuff lying around your house, and recycle things like papers, clothes, and glass.
    • Supporting renewable energy: installing solar panels at home can make use of free natural resources like sunlight, which is a one-time investment for you and the environment.
